New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1889. Full Leather. Limited Edition. 190 pp. 8vo. Beautifully bound in blue leather. The spine has two raised bands, bright blind-stamped gilt lettering and rules. Spine color has changed to more green than blue. Both covers also have blind-stamped, bright gilt rules and a small, decorative motif in two corners. Top edge gilt, endpapers are gold silk. "C.M. Ullman" was the binder, blind-stamped in the leather border on the inside rear cover. Volume is enclosed in a custom slip-case with the spine edges of the same leather (or goatskin) as the binding. This too has changed from blue to green and is slightly edge-worn. Slipcase construction is paper-over-board. The paper is a brick red color with the look of linen. Slipcase has a very soft, flannel, inner lining. Very Good / Near Fine.
Text consists of the reiminiscences of the actor Lester Wallack. It is augmented with engraved portraits of him, his fellow actors (including the original Tyrone Power) and actresses, facsimiles of correspondence and documents (some tipped in), plus tipped-in, tri-fold broadsides. The last of these has completely torn apart at one fold. Internally as new except that the broadsides have age-darkened to varying degrees. A real collector's item for the theater buff.
