Tucson, AZ: Privately Printed, 1945. Wraps. First Edition. Unpag. 4to. Terracott and beige wraps with Dixon's signature thunderbird "mark" at the center of the design. Light scuffing and soilinge from age. A long running series of Dixon's quotes fills the verso and recto of the cover wraps. Illustrated within the text, but also contains center section of 16 pages of his paintings, 8 black and white, 8 in color. Key to this publication is a list of Dixon's exhibitions by date and city, the same with mural decorations, and a final list of collections housing his work. Photograph of Dixon by Ansel Adams is the frontispiece. Very Good.
Maynard Dixon's (1875-1946) work as an illustrator, painter, and muralist focused on the American Southwest, and for many came to represent the views they expected from their train windows -- they were rarely disappointed.
