Inscribed by the author on the first free endpaper to "Mr. & Mrs. Maurice J. Kane..." The bookplate of Ruth Swetland Kane is affixed to the first free endpaper. Louis Henry Cohn, with his wife, Marguerite, founded the House of Books in 1930, one of premier bookstores offering modern first editions. Louis died in 1953, Margie carried on and became a legendary bookseller in her own right until she closed the business in 1984. Also included are three ALS addressed to Mrs. Kane, two of August 1938 from Margie Cohn, September 1939 from Louis, and a postcard offering a copy of Hemingway's "The Spanish Earth." Published in an edition of 500 copies, this being copy #37. Rare inscribed by the author.
