Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961) proposed the Schrödinger's Cat thought experiment in this paper. Schrödinger used the thought experiment to illustrate what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics when applied to everyday objects. In the course of developing this thought experiment, Schrödinger also coined the term “Verschränkung” (“entanglement”).
