Dust jacket has minor chips and tears, scuffing, now in mylar cover. Slight bumping to cover boards, minor soiling at edges. Inscription on first free endpaper and note on rear pastedown, both in Russian.
Filled with Kent's illustrations and reproductions of color paintings that supplement the text. A stunning work when it was published in 1955 in the United States. Republished in the Soviet Union in 1965, with the new Russian text working almost seamlessly with the original illustrations [Libman 2875]. Hardly any wear and scuffing to the cover which is tan cloth with light green embossed titling and decoration that matches dust jacket. Previous owner's name handwritten in ink on front pastedown as well as the date of acquisition, "December 1930". Very clean within. Very Good / Very Good.
