Text block is tight and bright, with occasional fingermarks. Examples of Cleland's artistry run the gamut from program covers, menus, bookplates, headpieces, advertisements, title pages, and diplomas to private Christmas cards, and more. There are five pps. of color advertising for Cadillac Autos in 1927, costume sketches for "Scaramouche," illustrations of early mathmetical instruments, and elegant chapter initials. This is arguably the best of life before computer type!.
