Book which accompanied an exhibition of the same name at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, March 4-May 31, 1987; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, August 16 - Nov. 1, 1987; The Detroit Institute of Arts, Dec. 9, 1987 - Feb. 28, 1988; and Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York, April 5 - June 26, 1988. Cover lettered in brown on spine, and printed on front with an illus. from "War is Kind" by Stephen Crane, 1899 (no.46). Same piece of art is used as frontis. The vividly colored glossy dj shows a "Wallpaper frieze, 1900-1905 (no. 193) HBH Company. Dj is price-clipped. There are a few impressions on back cover of dj where someone has drawn or traced on it. Else condition of book & jacket both immaculate. Gift inscription in brown ink on ffep. Beige eps. Includes contributions by Eileen Boris, W. Scott Braznell, Robert Judson Clark, Edward S. Cooke, Jr., Ellen Paul Denker, Bert Randall Denker, Robert Edwards, Jonathan L. Fairbanks, Sally Nuchanan Kinsey, Gillian Moss, Cheryl Robertson, Susan Otis Thompson, Richard Guy Wilson, and Catherine Zusy. A monumental catalog of the history of "one of the most significant and far-reaching movements in American art," thoroughly researched and presented in detail.
