Aesop.
FABLES D'ESOPE.
Paris: Hatchette et Cie, 1913. Hard Cover. First Edition. 121 pp. Color & b/w ills. Arthur Rackham's delicate drawings provide the perfect complement to the subtlety of Aesop's Fables! Front cover has title block and decorative design in bright gilt; gilt lettering and decorations on spine. Spine is worn at ends and there is a closed tear at back hinge for about two inches from bottom. Lower corners threadbare, upper corners only touched with wear. Lower front corner creased. Decorated eps have Rackham's design from front cover in green on ivory. There is a small ink gift inscr. at top of ffep. Intermittent foxing throughout. The 12 full-page color plates have captioned tissue protectors. Binding is a bit tentative, with several signatures a little loose. But the irresistable ills. combined with the fables in French make this a book that will give hours of pleasure to the careful peruser. Very Good.
