Printed in an edition of 175 copies: 150 for sale, 25 "hors de commerce", this is copy 14 of 150. An absolutely pristine edition that has been opened only to catalog. Still in original shipping container in which it was shipped from the Arion Press to the subscriber. Thirteenth publication of the Arion Press. Film canister-like stainless steel case with title in white printed on case. Canister measures 19" in diameter, publication is printed on circular sheets 18" in diameter. Cover sheet by Jim Dine and signed by him in pencil and marked "P/P" indicating "Publisher's Proof" with duplicate of the Dine print within the book. All subsequent artists' prints are both signed and numbered "14/175". Photograph of John Ashbery signed and numbered by Avedon in pencil, Foreword signed by John Ashbery in pencil, portrait of Ashbery by Elaine de Kooning signed by her in pencil, print by Willem de Kooning signed by him in pencil, portrait by Jim Dine signed in pencil, print of flowers in jar by Jane Frelicher signed by her in pencil, portrait of a woman by Alex Katz, signed by him in pencil, sketch of a man by R. B. Kitaj signed by him in pencil, portrait of a man (presumably the author) sitting at a table typing by Larry Rivers as a print, but then hand colored with colored pencils and signed by Rivers at base, Colophon signed in pencil by publisher Andrew Hoyem. Also included is the LP record recording of John Ashbery reading "Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror." Handset in Cochin type on Twinrocker Mill paper. Light stain on page 11 of poem that occurred during production, as this edition was unsealed from the original packing box for the first time in order to catalog. Fine.
