Roosevelt." Beveled covers are stamped with rules,a decorative border, and center frame. On front cover, a dentelled inner border is gilded, and there is a gilt facsimile signature of Halpine. Much elaborate bright gilt decoration on spine. Spine ends creased, with just a hint of fraying to head. Corners bumped. Coated brown eps. There is a neat high school library bookplate on fpd. T.p. is foxed, as is the tissue protector ot photo frontis. Only light intermittent foxing within. Nicely designed book, with all pages having ruled borders. The works of an Irish-born journalist, a one-time private secretary to Stephen A. Douglas, and a Civil War General. Very Good Plus.
