Paris: Paul Ollendorff, 1899. Three Quarter Leather. As. Inscribed By Author. 348 pp. Rust/orange colored leather spine and corners over marbled boards. Spine has blind-stamped, bright gilt lettering. Covers and spine are slightly aged and soiled. Spine ends and corners are rubbed and/or worn. T.e.g. Marbled eps. Original paper spine bound in front. Brief ink inscription from the author, in French, on half-title page, dated "October 98." Inscription is to Henry Bauer, putative son of Alexander Dumas pere. Binding is interesting in that the page margins are of varying widths. Most of the pages are trimmed, but several pages retain their 2 1/2" outer margins. Text, in French, is on laid paper. Some darkening of pages, particularly on the pages with the wide margins. Otherwise, interior is clean, crisp and tight. Bound-in bookmark ribbon. Very Good Plus.
