Brown glossy linen-weave covers grown lighter towards the spine Spine itself sunned, with gilt lettering obscured. Gilt lettering and cartoon on front. Cover is edgeworn, with some chipping & wearing at spine ends. Corners bumped and worn. Teg; lower edges untrimmed. Dark green eps, separating at front joint. Bookplate of Austin Dobson on fpd. Tipped in between front flyleaves is a letter from Keene to a friend. The text of this letter appears on p. 415 with a note in Dobson's hand correcting the name of the recipient. "With the author's comps" appears in ink at top of t.p. The b/w frontis is signed by Keene. Occasional foxing. Many illustrations, most with tissue protectors. Binding tight. Keene, maybe best known as a Punch cartoonist, was a gifted artist and etcher. Very Good.
