Spine is brown leather with raised bands and title in gilt, a bit rubbed. Only light wear to edges and corners. Marbled eps in blue, green, and gilt, with dark green reinforcing tape at hinges. Fep has printed bookplate. Published "by subscription." Very clean. Binding tight. Hamlin was a Maine attorney elected to Congress who served as Abraham Lincoln's first vice-president. Vigorously anti-slavery. This book contains a great deal of U.S. history during the Civil War and the period which led up to it. Very Good Plus.
