P.o. in ink on flyleaf. 20 ills. engraved by American artists are tissue protected, which is foxed in most cases. Occasional light foxing throughout. Nicely designed volume, with ruled pages. Very Good Except.

Bryant, William Cullen. THANATOPSIS. New York and Boston: H.M. Caldwell Co. 1874. Unpag. B/w ills. A lovely gift edition, the book is covered in fine scarlet fabric with a front overlay of metallic silver printed with green holly leaves and bright red berries. A gilt wreath on the upper left corner circles author & title names. Tiny amounts of edgewear to the silver only. Printed on glossy ivory stock, the book illustrations are designed and engraved by W.J. Linton, with "indebtedness acknowledged to David Scott and William Blake and (almost unknown as an artist) Isaac Taylor, the author of The Natural History of Enthusiasm, The Physical Theory of Another Life, etc." A beautiful book in gift condition! Very Good Plus.
